Random Thoughts

Snow in March. Yay.  First day of spring this past Monday and we got snow.  Okaay.  You'd figure that would be a one-time fluke, right?  Nope. Snow again 2 more times this week.  At least it's sunny now.  Hopefully it'll get warmer after this but nope.  I heard from someone that it's going to snow again on Sunday.  Is the world ending?  The sky is falling!   Will everything go kaput in 2012?  Ugh.

Wow, I'm blogging again.  Will wonders never cease!  Hehehe.  It'll be dead at work today and tomorrow.  I might as well take advantage of this time instead of shopping online.

We need to save money and I need to stop spending...but all those online sales are so so so evil.  *sigh*  And Amazon!  Arrrghhh.  We finally agreed to my parents to purchase the house from them.  I was thinking about other alternatives but in the end, the house won out.  I grew up in this house, I grew up in the neighborhood, went to the nearby school.  This places holds dear to my heart.  Also, you can't beat the area.  Lotsa Asian foods and groceries are close by and it's a great location.

Carey has his 21-month well appointment next week.  Time flies way too fast.  He's no longer a baby but a little boy.  He's not talking yet but mainly babbling in his baby babble and an occasional word like "Cow" or "Daddy!!!"  No Mommy yet. *sigh*  He's still very sweet and so lovable!  I'm already brainstorming ideas for his second birthday!  We are thinking about enrolling him in daycare so we'll going to check out one next week.  My mom is tired from caring for him because he is more than a handful.  A ball of energy!  And it's time for him to learn some social manners and more stuff from teachers.  I'm hoping it works out!

Last week, I jumped on an Amazon deal:  Spracht Aura BluNote Portable Speaker.  It was only $35 from $129.99!  Good deal!  I wasn't sure if I should jump on it but did after reading all the stellar reviews and such.  Also, it sold out pretty quickly.  After all, it must be a good deal if everyone's jumping on it right?  I've been wanting to get some portable speakers for the Ipad but this works for any Bluetooth enabled device.  I hooked my IPhone 4 to it when I received it.  It's pretty easy to connect.  You can either plug it into the wall or use 4 AA batteries to make it wireless.  The sound is very good for a portable speaker and it's small enough to bring it with you on short or long trips.  I tested a variety of music on it and it all sounded great.  I'm very happy with this product!

My JBL ipod speaker finally died after so many years.  I mean, it still plays music but it no longer charges the Ipod anymore. :(  I was solely using this in Carey's bedroom to play his lullabys all night when he sleeps or during his naps but it's been dying out after 4 hours since it doesn't charge.  Luckily for me, I've been a Sony credit card holder for about ten years and I had some points stacked up.  I used my points and got the Sony Clock Radio with the Ipod dock:
This clock is awesome!  I just plugged it in and voila, the time is already set for me.  Wow!  LOL. The reviews complained of the brightness of the numbers in the dark but it works fine in a baby's room because it's like a small nightlight.  I guess if you can't sleep unless it's really dark in your room, don't get it, but it works great for us.  It's also a CD player too.  Win win!  Love it!
I love it when I'm happy with my purchases. Hehe!

Off to lunch to get my Tenka deal of free dumplings from the Bian Dang truck.  Hehehe.

Review: Maybelline SuperStay 24 Lip color (BzzAgent)

I used to review products and stuff on my prior blogs so I figured I might as well do it officially.  I recently joined BzzAgent, which is a marketing company based on word-of-mouth.  Basically you join and become an Agent and you're invited to test out products.  If you're interested in a campaign, you need to fill out an online survey and then they'll send the products to you.  Your job, as an agent, is to test out the products and tell people about it by writing reviews or just spreading the news via word-of-mouth by Facebook, Twitter, etc.

This is my very first review. :)

Maybelline SuperStay 24
I was invited to join the Maybelline SuperStay 24 lip color campaign.  I was a little ambivalent because I haven't found any lip colors/gloss that I like.  I've just been using CG Bigelow's lip tint for the past few years.  Prior to that, I was using Revlon ColorStay but I stopped using that because I didn't like how it made my lips cakey and dry.  I also noticed that the lip applicator was similar to a lip gloss applicator and I wasn't looking forward to that due to past experiences of gunky and sticky lip gloss that made my hair stick to my lips like glue.  Not pleasant!  However, I thought I'd have nothing to lose by just trying it.  I can always give a bad review if I really didn't like the product.

My BzzKit arrived earlier this week.  In the package was an informative booklet about the lip color and 4 different shades.  Wear on Wildberry, Everlasting Wine, Forever Chestnut & Timeless Rose.  I was very tempted to keep all 4 shades since they were all very nice colors but in the end, I kept Wear on Wildberry & Everlasting Wine.  I tried on Wear on Wildberry first as it was more similar to my lip color without being too drastic.  I loved how the color went on thinly and dried in a minute or two.  I noticed that if I blot the lip color first (something I forgot to do because it's been so long since I've worn actual lip color) before putting on the lip balm part of the lip color, it wouldn't get overly gunky.  I was also surprised that the lip color smelled good, like watermelon or strawberries.

I tried on Everlasting Wine the next day and it's similar to the color I used to wear, back in the day when I used to wear color on my lips.  I think I would prefer to use this color in a non workplace area.  My colleagues did indeed notice I was wearing a new lip color and complimented me on it to which I shared them the product and even gave her one of the extra samples I received.

The color does stay on my lips!  The only time it would come off was when I ate something and wiped my mouth with a napkin.  It does not dry out my lips, nor is it cakey or gunky and my hair no longer sticks to my lips as it did with other products.    I really enjoy this product and now I'm back to wearing makeup because of this product.  I have already recommended this product to my friends and family and will continue to do so.

I highly recommend!

Time Flies Big Time

March 2011, already?  Ok, at this rate I guess I'll be blogging every 6 months but I want to blog regularly.  It's hard to find time to blog when you have no access at work.  Does anyone use Xanga anymore?

I realized that I haven't even blogged about Carey's 18 month stats.  Doh.  At the end of this month, he'll be heading off to his 21 month well appointment.  Can you believe he's almost 2?  I'm already brainstorming ideas for his birthday party in May. Craziness.

Here are Carey's 18 month stats:

Weight:  21 lbs, 9 oz
Length:  31.25 inches
Head size:  18.70 inches (47.5 cm)

From what I hear, he's still "small" compared to other kids his age but I fail to see that in Gymboree class, etc.  He's uber heavy now to carry.  Before I could carry him with one arm with ease but now I find myself sore if I've carried him for a long time.  Luckily for us, he loves to run around.  Yes, run!  We pretty much ditched the stroller since he refuses to sit in there anymore. He prefers to walk.  My mom tells me they take walks around the neighborhood and he is able to walk/run thru the whole circle w/o tiring once.  That's awesome!  I remember when kids start walking, they get tired after a short time and then you're stuck carrying them.  That's not so for my baby!  He can even do somersaults.  I don't think he does them on purpose tho.  He also loves to run in circles and shake his head.  I think he likes the feeling of being dizzy.  I know, he's a strange boy.

Physically, he's doing great.  He's not talking so much though.  I mean, he IS talking but he's talking in his baby language all the time.  But he knows a few words tho.  He knows:

"Daddy":  =( for me.  I think he's picked that up before "Mama" or "Mommy" because I am constantly referring to Meanie as "Daddy".

"Please":  = although it comes out as "Pree", hehe

"Cow":  He likes to say that alot and he knows what it is, too, cuz when a cow comes on TV in Baby Einstein, which he still loves btw, he'll say "Cow" alot and will sometimes "Moo" afterwards.  LOL

He knows a bunch of other words too but I can't remember them right now.  He doesn't say them all the time. It's like he circulates the words he knows.  I taught him "Duck" yesterday but I don't think he can do the "ck" sound yet so it comes out as "Duhhh".  Hahahah.

He's trying to talk, at least, but he doesn't compare to little girls around his age who can speak sentences already!  I know that boys, in general, are just slower.  But he understands us and he listens to us, so that's a good thing.

Carey's got most of his teeth except the 2nd molars and the back molars but I think they're coming in right now because he's constantly drooling like a waterfall.  He eats what he eats but Mom still insists on pureeing his food because "it takes him too long to eat" regular stuff....*rolls eyes*  So impatient.  Now I know where my impatience comes from!  He's still on the bottle though.  I have all sorts of sippy/straw cups at home but none of them work on him.  *sigh* but right now he's losing interest in the binky which is great news!

My boy loves to read!  He will actually drop a toy to grab a book.  My inlaws marvel about that. I'm really happy he picked up my love for books.  Yay!  But he still loves his toys. He's the typical boy.  He loves everything with wheels and even plays with his cars, like his cousin - Lying flat on his stomach to push his cars and watching the wheels turn.

: )

Ok, enuf about Carey. Hehehe.

I've joined BzzAgent just recently.  I figured since I used to do reviews on my blog on Xanga, I might as well start doing this officially.  Basically it's a marketing ploy based on word-of-mouth.  So people who join will have the chance to review products and stuff and get other people to buy it.

Currently I am testing out Maybelline SuperStay 24™ 2-Step Lipcolor.  I will post up a review here and other places so people can see it.  So far I am happy with it!

Will blog soon again, I promise! :)
